    Let's talk about defense now. Currently the calculation is in the aruna wikipedia. https://arunafeltz.net/wiki/index.php/Defense_MagicDefense Basically, it means that the damage calculation for defense is that the higher your HARD def the more damage resistance percentage for physical you will get. It gives you the benefit of getting low damages if the opposing player does not have Thanatos Card It resists critical now since critical no longer pierces defense. Let us talk about thanatos card. Yes, it is strong right now however, there are dozens of ways to get away with it. Firstly, let us talk about full damage player vs semi-damage players. Full damage players are those who does full damage but takes a lot of damage in return. Due to status these players are forced to get at least 100+ total vitality and not wear the most important armor against thanatos card. In doing so, you will be bound to get at least 200+ total defense which will make thanatos relevant. Semi-damage players are those who uses resist items with damage items. By doing these they are not that vulnerable to thanatos and will get the benefit of reducing their damage taken due to having a minimal defense. So why is thanatos card strong right now? As of now excluding those ignore defense skills. Thanatos is the only card that negates the defense calculation entirely and makes another calculation for its damage. Do not be blinded by the fact that if you have lower than 200 defense you will be safe. Because that just means you negated it. only by getting less than 50 Defense will your damage be lower against people with thanatos. Even though less than 100 defense gives you 75% damage only, remember the incoming damage reduction of defense is negated due to thanatos so basically the real threshold will be the less than 50 defense one. So how do you really counter this? Simple. Stop going full damage unless you have good healers and lots of paladin. do not be blinded by the 5% extra damage of dragon set. Geffen Magic Robe is a good choice to use although it does kill your mdef. Normalize using orc hero to minimize vit. Orc Hero is a nice card it also gives you more status points that you can invest in luk. How will full damage build cope with this. Luckily, `the strongest thana users are long range. So defender will lessen the damage by a lot. Just get lots of healer and avoid getting at least 900k damage or more. Please check your damage taken in your battlelogs and adjust if necessary. Full damage is good and all but remember you can play as a team and pick them off one by one using tarot and dispel. Avoid using them unless it is necessary for your build I am a certified Dragon Shield and Aegir Shield hater right now so this is a bit biased but use other shields. Using dragon shield and aegir shield is not worth it because it gives 40 def and 43 def respectively.     Guide for MDEF Calculation and why it could be relevant. Firstly let us look at the Renewal Calculation for HARD MDEF which will be the basis on how this will work Damage after Hard MDEF = Damage × [(1,000 + HardMDEF) ÷ (1,000 + HardMDEF × 10)] reference:https://irowiki.org/wiki/MDEF A player with a Hard MDEF of 60 will have incoming m. damage reduced by about ⅓, and a player with a Hard MDEF of 125 will have incoming damage reduced by half. With 1000 HARD MDEF you will get 82% magic reduction. SOFT MDEF or INT MDEF basically gives you reduction of magic damage directly It just means that the reduction will not be percentage based but rather flat damage. SO why is it relevant? First of all. MDEF of 99 back then basically is 99% magic reduction. So it was quite strong back then. Now, the MDEF does not directly mean the percentage It means that we start at 100% damage taken and will be reduced little by little. so we will have a cap in this way. Increasing further will only lessen the effect. What is the cap that I should reach? Typically speaking 60 mdef up to 180 mdef is enough if you are commiting towards this. Now lets talk about Freeze Resist. Did you know that HARD MDEF actually gives freeze resist and it gives you a ton of it? LUK also gives that resistance but HARD MDEF is much more important in this case. Based on what I have been using, achieving 200 HARD MDEF guarantees that you will not be frozen. You can lower it by adding luk however I do not know the whole calculation. Since 200 HARD MDEF means that you will not be frozen let us use that as the basis and multiply it by 10 to maki it easier The other thing is that when I tried it and had 200 luk and 180 HARD mdef I did not get frozen so lets just say that 2000 = UNFROZEN (HARD MDEF*10) + LUK = UNFROZEN is the calculation hope it would help. So adding everything. HARD MDEF is the left side of mdef and it gives you Freeze Resist + Magic Resistance. Now what everyone has been looking for Build Guides for MDEF. Here are some equipments that I used in achieving high mdef. Blue Mythical Stone T3 #25091 - 2 MDEF Malangdo Weapon Enchants (Class E Coins) - 8 MDEF Example for equipment build: There are lots more equipment that give MDEF but I gave the most relevant ones that give good boost and resistance. Since I have shared its benefit let us now talk about the cons. In using MDEF builds it will be hard to use Tao Gunka or Geffen Magic Robe since they reduce magic defense. meaning you will have to get high defense. You will be forced to use certain equipments and sacrifice damage. Once you get hit my Mind Breaker the build falls apart unless you have excess MDEF and LUK to achieve it. There are some little more cons but I only put the relevant ones. Basically to sum it up. The guide is made to counter Neutral Damage and the strong Meteor Storm. It also showcase the Freeze Resistance.
